Restoring and Repairing Organs

For organ builders, "restoration" means keeping the distinctive marks of the respective organ builder, in terms of the organ's external appearance and sound, and the handwork techniques used to construct it. In this way, the "soul of the organ" is retained, in accordance with its builder and its history, and the organ can be brought back to life!

Handling historic organs requires a tailor-made solution each time; one which takes into account the desire to preserve history while also considering the regular, practical needs of the congregation. Also, the conservation and/or repair must be carried out in accordance with good restorative working practice - i.e. by keeping in mind the possibility of a future restoration, and preparing the way for it.
