Christian Hellbach
Christian Hellbach joined us as an apprentice in 2004. While taking a course in Church Music, he discovered the subject of organ building, and subsequently decided to become an organ builder. His hobbies include playing the organ, trumpet and piano; woodwork; and he also likes to go jogging now and then.

Training Profile of an Organ Builder:
Training duration: 42 month
College: ZZentrale Berufsschule (Central Vocational School) in Ludwigsburg, Stuttgart
Training Organisation: Block instruction
Apprenticeship exam: in Ludwigsburg for general exam, or before the Craftsman's Guild for individual specialisms


In-house Conditions:
School-leaving Qualifications: Good GCSE grades (or equivalent)
Desirable: Primary year at vocational woodwork
college Musical training
If possible, church choir/organ training
Work experience: At least two or three weeks' placement with an organ builder.

Manual soundboard in the historical style
for the Jesse-Organ (1786/87) in St. Moritz Church, Halberstadt.
