Restoration of the Ruehlmann-Organ in Pauluskirche, Magdeburg

The Ruehlmann-organ in Magdeburg's Pauluskirche was returned during restoration to its original specification. The organ was built in 1896. A substantial part of the restoration was the installation of swell case-work, according to the design of the original organ. A distinctive feature of the swell case-work is that its doors open upward! This was necessary in order to ensure access to the pipework of the 1st manual. It is interesting to note that, for this organ, the original cost estimate from Ruehlmann is still present. This enabled us to reconstruct the missing stops.
