The Ruehlmann Organ-building Family
|
1842 |
Friedrich Ruehlmann creates a small workshop (approx. 1812 - 1878), in which only 7 new organs would be built. |
1842 |
Wilhelm Ruehlmann Senior (1842 - 1922) is born. He later goes on to complete a four-year apprenticeship as an organ builder in his father's workshop, as well as six years as an associate worker with Friedrich Ladegast. |
1866 |
Wilhelm Ruehlmann Senior takes over his father's business, together with his brother Theodor (also an organ builder, and principal employee; died 1910). |
1887 |
The first pneumatic organ is built for Bernburg. Up to 1912, over 350 new organs are developed, including large three-manual organs. These times are also the heyday for the company, under the brothers Wilhelm and Theodor Ruehlmann. |
1912 |
Wilhelm Ruehlmann Junior (1882 - 1964) takes over the management. |
ab 1918 |
From 1918, the situation with regard to orders becomes more and more desperate. After the Second World War, the workshop cannot continue any longer. |
